Background Paper for Junior Cycle Home Economics
A Background Paper and Brief for the Review of Junior Cycle Home Economics was published in November 2016. The purpose of the background paper was to explore the development of the subject at junior cycle; to highlight good practice at home and abroad; and to use evidence-based research to inform the revision of the specification.

The NCCA has established development groups to undertake specific tasks in subjects in order to provide a strong, representative voice to its work. The Home Economics Development Group consists of nominees from a range of education stakeholders including teacher and management bodies, Department of Education and Skills, and the State Examinations Commission. The new specification for Home Economics will be developed by the Home Economics Development Group.
