The purpose of the background paper is to explore the development of the subject at junior cycle; to highlight good practice at home and abroad; and to use evidence-based research to inform the revision of the specification. The NCCA would greatly appreciate your feedback, which will be used to inform the development of the specification for Junior Cycle History.

The NCCA has established development groups to undertake specific tasks in subjects in order to provide a strong, representative voice to its work. The History Development Group consists of nominees from a range of education stakeholders including teacher and management bodies, Department of Education and Skills, and the State Examinations Commission. The new specification for History will be developed by the History Development Group.
