A background paper for Junior Cycle Business Studies was developed in November 2013. The purpose of the background paper was to explore the development of the subject at junior cycle; to highlight good practice at home and abroad; and to use evidence-based research to inform the revision of the specification.

The development of the new Junior Cycle Business Studies specification began in November 2013. To provide a strong, representative and responsive basis for its curriculum and development work the NCCA has established development groups to undertake specific tasks in subjects. The Business Studies Development Group consists of the nominees from a range of education stakeholders including teacher and management bodies, Department of Education and Skills, and the State Examinations Commission.
